English Lacrosse are excited to announce that Team USA will be visiting the UK in June as part of their preparations for next July’s 2017 FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.
The team will arrive in the UK on June 28th and will play international test matches against Team England, Wales and Scotland with the headline match against Team England taking place at Surrey Sports Park.
The tour presents Team England Head Coach Phil Collier with a golden opportunity to test his players against the best in the world as they prepare to compete for a medal next year, Collier commented;
“Team England are very much looking forward to welcoming Team USA, the current World Champions, to Surrey Sports Park in the summer.
“Their recent squad selection tells us that they have gone for a core of experienced players with some fresh and exciting new talent. They will definitely start as favorites for next years World Cup.”
“Our two games against them in July will provide us with a very good test of our team’s progress and an opportunity for individual players to impress, as we continue our own preparations for the World Cup.”
“The games will definitely be exciting and a great showcase for top-level women’s lacrosse. We hope that lots of fans will be able to come along and support the England team. In return we are looking to put on a performance that will make the fans proud.”

US Lacrosse announced the 24-member Team USA roster for the tour on Friday following the US Lacrosse Spring Premier, where Team USA defeated both Syracuse and Florida Universities.
The touring team features a blend of experience and exciting talent such a two-time Tewaaraton winner and Maryland University midfielder Taylor Cummings and veteran goalie Devon Wills who is preparing to compete in her third World Cup.
Head Coach Ricky Fried commented; “The touring team has a balance of veterans and rookies, all of whom posses high levels of athleticism, skill and decision making. This is another critical step towards competing in the next World Cup in 2017.”
