Change in Practice – CRB to DBS

In December 2012 the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) merged with the Independent Safeguarding authority to become the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

English Lacrosse is able to provide the lacrosse community with access to the Disclosure and Barring Service, formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau service.

In order to access the service the Club or Association must first register with English Lacrosse by contacting HO on info@englishlacrosse.co.uk or 0843 658 5006 informing them of their Designated Safeguarding Officer. Once registered, any member, volunteer or professional staff involved with the Club or Association who is eligible for a check may use English Lacrosse via their Designated Safeguarding Officer.

All our DBS applications are processed through TMG CRB:

0845 251 5000

There are some guidance documents on this page.  At present they still refer to CRB rather than DBS; new forms will be added as soon as they are available.

Once the DSO has been nominated by the Club or Association and has completed a DBS check they can verify identification documents and DBS forms for any members, volunteers or professional staff that are working with young people within their Club/Association.

If you would like to discuss any of the above further or seek clarification on the process please contact Karen Hughes, National Safeguarding Officer on k.hughes@englishlacrosse.co.uk
