In July 2018, Manchester will once again become the global capital for lacrosse when the city hosts the FIL Men’s World Lacrosse Championship 2018, Manchester.   Planning is now well under way for this major international event, which will attract in the region of 45 international teams, up to 70 festival teams and up to 3,000 daily spectators between 12 and 21 July 2018.

Applications are invited for the role of the event’s Volunteer Workforce Coordinator.  This essential and senior position will manage and coordinate the event’s entire team of volunteers, including the planning process to recruit and prepare volunteers for their responsibilities.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of managing large teams of people in busy and fast moving sport events, and ideally you should have an in-depth knowledge of lacrosse as a sport and of lacrosse tournaments.

Between now and 2018 we will need the Volunteer Workforce Coordinator to attend all operational planning meetings, usually these will take place over a morning or an afternoon approximately once every three months, in Manchester.

During the event itself, we will require the Volunteer Workforce Coordinator to work on-site full-time from two days prior to the opening of the event (10th July 2018) until one day after the close of the event (22nd July 2018).  The successful candidate will be offered an honorarium of up to £14,000 for the duration of the role, from July 2016 to the end of July 2018.

The deadline for applications is Friday 24th June 2016, and interviews are provisionally scheduled to take place with short-listed candidates on Wednesday 20th or Thursday 21st July 2016.  Further details of the Volunteer Workforce Coordinator role, and information about how to apply, are included in the attached job description.

This role was previously advertised in December 2015 as a vacancy for the event’s ‘Volunteer Manager.’  Following a recruitment process, the event’s management team took the decision to revise the job description for this role and to change it from a voluntary and unpaid position to one that carries an honoraria of up to £14,000.  As a consequence of these changes, this vacancy is being re-advertised.
