Caterham School are looking for a full-time Graduate Assistant for a one-year contract starting 1 September 2017.
Graduate Assistants are timetabled to team teach and assist with all the Department’s PE and Games lessons. In addition to assisting with the organisation of equipment and instructing pupils with special needs, e.g. non-swimmers, they can contribute to more differentiated learning by teaching small groups within a lesson.
In addition to the duties outlined a Graduate Assistant will be expected to:
- teach sport in timetabled Games
- coach the teams in practices and matches
- umpire matches
After school and on Saturdays, Graduate Assistants contribute to sports practices and matches, as directed by the Heads of Departments and Teachers in charge of Games.
A Graduate Assistant attached to girl’s games would be expected to have the expertise to coach lacrosse.
Graduates undertake other school-based duties as and when required, such as supervising in the classroom for absent staff, assisting the main School Office and at parents’ evenings and other school functions.
This role would be ideally suited to those with a passion for sport and young people and wishing to gain relevant experience before embarking on a formal teaching qualification.
The current, prorated (actual) salary for this term time role is £15,000 per annum.
