English Lacrosse is delighted to announce the appointment of two new Independent Non-Executive Directors to the Board.
Chrissie Owens and Gavin Devine have been elected to the Board at the most recent Board Meeting as a result of the two vacancies left by outgoing INEDs, Melanie Steel and Jon Stainer.
Chrissie is a highly experienced commercial marketing consultant with clients across multiple sectors including sport, consumer goods and hospitality, with twenty years’ experience working with giants Coca-Cola and Diageo
In addition to this, Chrissie has been professionally involved in golf for over 10 years, first joining the English Women’s Golf Association as a Non-Executive Director in 2007.
Since then, she has been involved in numerous marketing campaigns and consultancy projects with England Golf including launching and managing the ‘Get into Golf’ nationwide campaign.
Gavin joins the Board as an experienced business executive and company director in corporate communications and marketing.
He has spent more than 25 years serving and advising boards and senior leaders of listed firms, trade associations and campaigning groups.
Gavin has also operated as Chief Executive of organisations focused on PR, corporate communications and public affairs, including at Newgate Communications, sponsor at the 2017 FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup.
John Neal, English Lacrosse Board Chair, said of the incoming INEDs: “I am thoroughly delighted to welcome the two new appointments to the Board.
“To be able to attract INEDs of the calibre of Chrissie and Gavin, with their extensive knowledge and expertise, should be regarded as a positive move forward for the organisation.
“With the ever-growing need for NGBs to be independently financially sustainable, their experience in commercial sectors will be a great asset to the Board, as well as providing assistance to EL staff”.
“I would also like to offer my sincere thanks to Mel and Jon for all their contributions over the years of being involved with English Lacrosse and their time given to supporting the sport.”
