University Talent Pathway

University Talent Pathway

As part of the Whole Sport Plan 2013-17 English Lacrosse has committed to deliver a talent pathway for both the men’s and women’s sport. An newly formed Elite Committee has been tasked to begin to put the plan into the practice. One of the first steps has been to implement a University element of the Men’s talent pathway for the 2012-13 season. This will allow for a full implementation in April 2013.

This development is reflective of the growth in talented players, and specifically acknowledges the opportunities in the University sector. Elite Chair Hamish McInnes

English Lacrosse INTO officers, in conjunction with the England Academy will deliver the following programme this season:

  • 5 regional development days (North East, North West, Midlands, South East and South West)
  • A regional team selected from each development day to compete in a national tournament
  • An England Universities team selected from the national tournament to compete in the British National Championships
  • Players then have the opportunity to be invited to participate in senior England Development Squad training.

This is a really positive development in supporting the growth of the University sector and future success of the England team.
