Team England start the new lacrosse season and their preparations for the 2013 World Cup in Oshawa, Canada with the Best & Brightest” tournament.
Best & Brightest is a new tournament which brings together the most skilful lacrosse players in the English women’s game and pit’s their wits – and their sticks – against each other in a competition designed to find the best players in the country.
Teams are made up of a selection of different players from the England Squad and the Development Squad, both of which include members from the Under-19 Squads.
The tournament comprises three round-robin matches on different days and then a final scheduled for December, when the top two teams will play off for the winner’s medals and the other two teams will play off for third place. The tournament is designed to help choose the players to represent England in the Home Internationals, which will take place in April. The tournament will also serve as the basis to select the team that will represent England in the 2013 World Cup in Ontario, Canada in July next year.
