English Lacrosse is excited to announce that this weekend’s 2016 National Club Championships, will take place at Broughton Park Rugby Club, Manchester. The National Club Championships was created by the newly formed National Lacrosse Committee and is intended to replace the current structure to establish a national club champion for both the men’s and women’s games.
Competing for the prestigious Iroquois Cup will be men’s Northern Premiership champions Stockport LC and Southern Premiership champions Spencer LC who last played each other in 2013. There will also be two women’s teams playing on Sunday with North champions Oxton LC taking on the South West champions Bristol Bombers LC.
English Lacrosse Participation and Community Manager David Coldwell commented on this years event: “The National Club Championship is an important event which celebrates the end of the league lacrosse season. It brings together the best club teams in the country from the men’s and women’s regional leagues at the same venue. There is a great championship atmosphere with a the crowning prize of National Champions and representing England in the European Club Championships.“
The event will be held in Manchester in the lead up to the 2018 FIL World Men’s Lacrosse Championships, however the championships will move to different areas of the country in the future, to ensure that it becomes a truly national event. The champions will also represent England at the European Club Championships in September in Ghent, Belgium.

Women’s Game: Oxton LC v Bristol Bombers LC (2:00pm Draw)
Mens National Club Championship: Stockport v Spencer (2:00pm Face-off)
