Dr. Zain Haider Appointed as English Lacrosse Chief Medical Officer

English Lacrosse would like to welcome Dr. Zain Haider as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to the governing body. As the association’s first CMO he will be working to improve the medical systems and procedures for both recreational and performance lacrosse nationally

Dr. Haider brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position having worked in both the public and private sectors, specialising in trauma and emergency medicine as well as working as a sports physician.

Dr. Haider has also worked with a number of different sports and major sporting events including the 2015 IRB Rugby World Cup, Silverstone Racing Circuit, 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Hambleden International Horse Trials as well as currently acting as a team doctor for Ealing Trailfinders RUFC and the Doncaster Knights.

Dr. Haider commented; “I am very proud to be appointed the 1st CMO for English Lacrosse and excited to get to work with Mark and the team. I know there is much to do so I will be meeting with the performance and national committees soon and my aim is to work with the board to improve safety and medical governance in the sport at all levels.”

It is a significant step for the game to able appoint an experienced, highly qualified professional to head up the development of our medical systems, procedures and personnel. We look forward to working with Dr. Haider over the next few years as we approach two major World events in 2017 and 2018.”

Dr. Haider will work closely with our National Talent Development Manager, Performance Committee and the newly formed National Lacrosse Committee to ensure that the sport has the best medical practices in place.

English Lacrosse are hosting two major World events in 2017 and 2018, Dr. Haider will provide advice and guidance to ensure best medical practice at both tournaments.
