English Lacrosse is delighted to announce the appointment of John Neal as the new Chair of the Board following Sue Redfern’s departure in June.
John has extensive sports experience working as a sports psychologist, coach and advisor to numerous organisations and bodies across a range of sports and will now help to assist English Lacrosse in developing its strategic direction for the game.
John owns a small chain of private health clubs and lectures in business at Ashridge Business School where he is Director of the Sports Business Partnership, providing world-class development programmes for the RFU, British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association.
Prior to working at Ashridge, John was fitness director to Middlesex CCC for nine years and worked as an advisor to numerous cricket boards including the MCC and ICC.
In a personal capacity, John can still be found on a Sunday morning coaching young cricket and rugby players to develop their game and enjoy the sport.
John said: ‘I am honoured to have been appointed to this position at such an important time for English Lacrosse. With two world cups in a two-year period and a fast growing sport, this is a challenge which is exciting and offers us all the greatest opportunity to make a difference, creating a legacy of which we can be proud.”
Mark Coups, English Lacrosse CEO, has expressed his delight at the new appointment, recognising it as a positive move forward for the game.
‘John’s appointment is a significant step for the organisation as he represents the next move in our modernisation programme; with the board now being independently chaired, we hope to bring a fresh, outside perspective to the organisation.
‘John has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be extremely valuable to the development of our game and I am looking forward to working with John and the rest of the Board to develop the sport.’
