SCO LDO Recruitment now open to UK Applicants

Local Development Officer and School Coaching Officer roles now open to UK applicants

English Lacrosse is delighted to announce that we are formally opening our Local Development Officer and School Coaching Officer Programme to English based applicants.

The Local Development Officer (LDO) and School Coaching Officer (SCO) Programme offers recent/future graduates or lacrosse enthusiasts aged 21 plus the opportunity to coach lacrosse whilst gaining coaching experience and qualifications.

The LDO role is based at a lacrosse club and involves recruiting and coaching children over a range of ages, including both men and women’s teams. You will develop lacrosse in your local area via coaching in the community with the aim of recruiting numerous children from local schools to join your club. The LDO programme gives you the opportunity to gain leadership and coaching skills, a level 2 coaching qualification, and umpiring/refereeing qualifications. The 7 to 12 month flexible contract provides a great opportunity to make money and gain coaching/teaching experience in a fun, exciting environment.

‘The LDO Programme has allowed me to coach lacrosse and concentrate on my Elite Lacrosse training . Its been a great year and I’ve learnt a lot.’ Jane Brierly – Timperley LDO and Team England Squad

The SCO role is slightly different as it is usually based at an independent all girls’ school and involves working with a variety of ages and sometimes a variety of sports. Your main role will be teaching lacrosse lessons and extra curriculum lacrosse, you will be expected to take teams to games and umpire as well as coach. Working as an SCO means you become part of the school system and therefore may be given pastoral duties such as helping within the boarding houses or covering other members of staffs leave. The SCO programme would provide the candidate with 9-12 months of hands on work experience in a school environment providing insight into the education system.
