Quarter Finals v Sweden
A return to form for England kicked off with a speedy 3 goals in the first 3 minutes of the quarter-finals versus Sweden. England were in control from the starting whistle and continued to dominate the first half despite numerous positional switches. The main attacking focus was to keep shape through maintaining width and fast ball movement, this was accomplished with style and finesse. The first half saw the younger players stamping their mark on the scoresheet with a number of goals from Lytollis and Anderson, bringing the score to 19-0 at half time.
In the second half, England showed great discipline and continued to turnover many Swedish passes in the midfield. Several more attacking plays opened up the field for Leah Templeman to bring home a hat trick. Throughout the game, England held possession confidently meaning several goalkeeper switches could occur, thus allowing the goalies to keep their focus in an otherwise quiet defensive third.
The final score was 27-0 and England will face Germany again in the semi-finals tomorrow.
