England fall to the US

Team England fell to the U19 Team USA team 20-1 yesterday in Turku, Finland. USA were coming off their first ever loss at an U19 World Championships as they lost to Team Canada in overtime the day before.

Mike Connor again impressed for England as he stepped between the pipes to make 7 save in the opening quarter to limit the reigning World Champions to just 4 goals. He ended up with a total of 20 saves in the game.

England’s only goal came in the second quarter thanks to Mellor’s Lewis Curtis. However it wasn’t enough to stop the US, who had a point to prove from the previous day.

The US had 12 different gaol scorers with attackman Kyle Keenan getting a team high four goals.

The top two finishers in the division receive byes to the semifinals on Thursday. Team England will face Team Canada today and have already lined up a quarterfinal game on Wednesday to hopefully claim a place in the semi-finals.
