NEMLA – Stockport and Timperley brave the conditions

The weather has plagued fixtures this season and this weekend was no different, torrential rain rendered most pitches in the league un-playable, however there were a number of exceptions with some teams braving the conditions.

In the Premiership the only Senior Flags quarterfinal played was between Stockport and Timperley. The game was played in horrendous conditions at Cale Green and this was reflected in the score as both teams struggled to get used to the pitch in the opening quarter. Stockport held a three goal lead at the half 5-2.

In the third quarter Timperley score 2 goals with Stockport only managing to score once. The final quarter saw Stockport take control of the game and added a further 4 goals with none in reply, final score 10-4.

Greg Rowlinson thrived in the conditions and led the game with 5 goals in the game. Tom Gosnay and Joe Singleton both scored two and Rick Jones contributed a goal and three assists.

McAllister was also impressive between the pipes making 12 saves in the game. Youngster James Pomfrett and Tom Patterson were also vital in gaining possession for the hosts, winning 12 from 17 face-offs.

All four of Timperley goals came from man-up opportunities with Andrew Brickell scoring twice, Oliver White and Cam Lesley scored the others.

In the Junior Flags Stockport A beat Sheffield University in equally horrendous conditions. Still on course to complete the double this season Stockport A are now 2 points clear at the top of Championship 1 and through to the semi-finals of the Junior Flags with an 13-5 victory over the tanger students.
