Storm Clodagh postponed all but one game in the Premiership at the weekend, with Brooklands managing to host Stockport in a muddy encounter at The Dragons Sports Club.
Brooklands got off to a good start, scoring the first goal of the game, but Stockport soon took the lead and went on to register their 9th win of the season with a comfortable 12-4 victory.
Stockport now hold a commanding eight point advantage over the rest of the league, most teams have at least two games in hand over the league leaders as we enter the last couple of weekends before the winter break.
Weather depending eight teams will be back in action in the Premiership this weekend with the league leaders not playing it gives a chance for the rest of the league to reduce their point advantage.
Following the shock defeat to Poynton, Cheadle will be back in action against Timperley this weekend. Timperley has not played since the 31st October and will be looking to continue the run of good form they were enjoying before the break. Heaton Mersey will also be back in action; they will face Wilmslow at The Heaton’s Sports Club.
Manchester Waconians host Brooklands in what could be a highly competitive fixture between the two clubs. Sheffield host Rochdale with the Steelers looking to register their first victory of the season.
In Championship 1, three games managed to brave the conditions at the weekend with Stockport A going level on points with Boardman & Eccles with a 16-8 victory over Leeds. Boardman & Eccles remain 2nd due to a superior goal difference. Heaton Mersey A are top of Championship 1, undefeated with 8 wins from 8 games.
Mellor beat Timperley A to claim their 6th win of the season with an 18-8 victory. Cheadle A produced a dominant performance over Durham to hand NEMLA’s newest team their 6th defeat of the season.
