North West U10 Boys / U11 Girls Tournament Report

Sunday 3rd April saw 11 teams attending the boys U10s and girls U11s tournaments held at Bramhall HS, for once the sun was shining and everyone was looking forward to an afternoon of Lacrosse.  The boys U10s were on first with five clubs represented, using two small pitches and playing two 7 minute halves the games came thick and fast.  All the games were played in a great spirit with many close games that provided great excitement for the spectators who cheered on the boys throughout.

Next was the girls turn and after some minor amendments to the pitch markings their games got underway, using the same two pitch format the girls played 10 minute one way only games so there wasn’t much respite between games.  Six clubs had entered the tournament and once the girls became used to the surface and the adapted rules the level of play just got better and better, again the games were highly competitive with lots of close matches and indeed several drawn games.  Although the games were keenly contested the girls and spectators also created a great friendly atmosphere.

Doug Martin from English Lacrosse commented “it was a really great event and it was fantastic to see so many children enjoying their Lacrosse”.  He added “the tournament uses adapted rules which allow the children to play competitive matches at an appropriate level, where the emphasis is on enjoyment and development of fundamental skills”.  Although scores at this event are not a priority, below are the results from the day.
