Nottinghamshire has selected its representative for the 2018 Rathbones National POP Lacrosse Championships following the regional qualifying tournament this week.
The Nottinghamshire POP Lacrosse Tournament was held at Nottingham Trent University in the Lee Westwood Sports Centre on Tuesday 5th June.
The schools in attendance, having qualified though their respective district tournaments, met to compete in a round robin of fixtures for the chance to play at the Rathbones National POP championships in Sheffield, later this month.
After what was an extremely competitive event, it was St Peter’s C of E Academy that took the top spot, with Worksop Priory in 2nd place followed by Arnold Mill Primary in 3rd.
The Junior Sports Programme Trust Ltd provided the medals, which were presented to the first three schools, along with participation certificates for all schools competing.
Officiating was undertaken by Katie Greenwood, (Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Nottingham Trent University), James and Mike Aspinall.
Mike Aspinall, who co-ordinated the event, commented: “It is with sincere thanks to Nottingham Trent University for hosting the event and we are pleased to confirm that they have also agreed to host next year’s tournament.”
Sophie Bartup from English Lacrosse added: “Once again, a big thank you to tournament organiser, Mike Aspinall, for volunteering his time to support POP Lacrosse within the region and for his commitment to hosting this event.”
