Statement regarding Men’s 2018 National Team Selection

Clarification Statement from Men’s National Team Head Coach Tom Wenham on National Team selection days:

The Men’s National Team management are seeking to provide clarification of the Selection days outlined for December 2016.

The management have been aware that various sections of game are experiencing significant issues with the proposed selection date of Saturday 10 December. Representation has been made by Regional Chairs about the clash of this date with League fixtures.

In response to these representations, statements have been issued detailing that non-attendance would be acceptable due to the clash with club fixtures and that this would not affect any individual’s selection.

Further representation has been made since these statements have been issued and the Men’s England Team management have decided that Saturday 10 December will now not be part of our selection process.

We are now working hard on how the selection process will be compressed into the 3 remaining days of 11, 17 and 18 December and more details about this will be available shortly.

The Men’s England Team management needs the help and assistance of the clubs and regional bodies now and in the future and to ensure that this assistance is developed we will be working hard to produce a full schedule of activity up to the 2018 World Championships in Manchester which dovetails into the annual competitive structure.

I would like to thank all the regional representatives who have communicated with us so that we could agree to exclude Saturday 10 December from our selection process.

Tom Wenham
Team England Men’s Head Coach
