Success for Portsmouth Pythons at SEMLA Junior Flags

Portsmouth Pythons picked up a clean sweep by winning every age group at the 2017 SEMLA Junior Flags at Surrey Sports Park on Sunday 19 March.

The Under 12s tournament featured Portsmouth Pythons, Maidstone and Spencer. With many of the players having never even played in a competitive game, it was a steep learning curve for the sides, with the greater experience of Pythons eventually coming through on the day. However, such was the enjoyment for everyone, the teams carried on playing friendly matches after the tournament was decided.

Guildford, Spencer and Pythons contested the Under 14s competition with Pythons drawing one game, but winning the rest to come out on top and take the title.

And in the Under 17s tournament, Pythons faced two Reading teams, Gulidford and a Spencer/Foxes combination. A series of round-robin games were played before moving to the semi-finals and Final with Pythons beating the Spencer/Foxes combined team in the final.

Portsmouth Pythons Head Coach, Julia Bose, paid tribute to all the Pythons players who are undefeated this season and thanked the parents of all the teams at Junior Flags who travel such a long way to get the players to training and matches.
