English Lacrosse is delighted to announce that Sue Redfern has today (1 August) taken up role as the new President of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL).
Following the FIL General Assembly last week in Guildford, Sue was appointed by the member nations to take over from outgoing FIL President, Stan Cockerton, for the next two years.
Sue previously held the position of English Lacrosse Board Chair for five years before stepping down from the role last May and was instrumental in driving change throughout the organisation in its governance and decision making structures.
She also offered significant input and expertise in to the planning and delivery of the recent 2017 FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup as well as her role as England country representative.
Sue also has previous experience in working with the FIL and is a former Vice-President of the International Federation of Women’s Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA) before its merger to form the FIL in 2008.
English Lacrosse would like to thank Stan for all his work over the last seven years and warmly offer our congratulations to Sue on taking up this prestigious role within the world of lacrosse.
We are sure that Sue will continue to use her drive, professionalism and passion for the sport to further aid the development of the game and will be a true ambassador for the FIL and lacrosse worldwide.
Don Blacklock has also been appointed to the FIL board in the new role of Technical Director for the next two years.
Don has previously served as the FIL Chair of Officiating and takes a wealth of experience into the role; many congratulations to Don.
