England Lacrosse Set the Pace at Home Internationals 2016

England Lacrosse recorded a convincing victory over Scotland in the first day of the Home Internationals 2016. England’s Claire Faram and Charlie Finnegan were dangerous in attack with 3 goals a piece but Torz Anderson, who scored in the last 20 secs of the game topped the goal table in this game with 4 goals. The win should be credited to a  team performance in challenging weather conditions.

Day 1 schedule – 2016 Home Internationals

9:30 Ireland v England B
10:00  Wales B v Scotland B
12:00  Jnr Wales B v Jnr Scotland B
12:30  Germany v Wales

The almost balmy conditions the south of England had experienced during the run up to this weekend’s Women’s Home Internationals started to fade on Thursday evening and by Friday morning the sky over Surrey Sports Park was heavily overcast. Any respite the teams and organizers had hoped for were dashed before the conclusion of the opening match as the rain moved in, and it was pretty much in to stay for the remainder of the day.

The opening match between a rebuilding Ireland side and an England B team packed with players looking to make a claim on a place on the upcoming tour of Australia and perhaps in the squad for next Summer’s World Cup was one sided with England running out clear winners 27-0.

England’s goals coming from 10 Kirsten Lafferty (3), 5 Florence Saunders (5), 12 Antonia Hudson (4), 11 Laura Ramsay (2), 4 Eliza Watson (4), 2 Chelseanam Smith-Miller (3), 16 Laura Beaman (3), 6 Charlie Lawson (2), 7 Caitlin Baty (2), 1 Nancy day (1)
