Alice Cranwell

Alice Cranwell, graduated from St Catherine’s, Bramley, in 2014 and after taking a gap year this year will hopefully be attending Exeter University in September. Whilst Alice was at St Catherine’s she captained the 1st team alongside Nancy, throughout the 2014-2015 season, becoming champions at National Schools. Leading up to this great achievement Alice and many of her team mates had been selected to represent her county since 2011, along with being part of the Centex programme. In 2012 Alice trialled for South and unfortunately did not make the team. This was very difficult for her to take as she was selected to play for Centex in the same tournament, therefore having to watch the team she desperately wished she was part of. Not being selected made Alice work really hard on her fitness and skills and as a result she was selected for the England ‘A’ team tour to Canada. Since then Alice has taken part in three Home Internationals and two additional tours. Alice works tirelessly in the attacking unit, constantly on the move and a menace to anyone trying to mark her. Her unique style of movement befuddles even the best defenders as she takes on drives. Aggressive as a cutter she often finds herself on the end of feeds and doesn’t disappoint the team with a calm finish. Her biggest improvement this year has been her 1v1 defence which is now solid against even the strongest drivers.
