Q: At what age did you begin to play lacrosse?
Q: Which game are you most looking forward to at theRLWC17 and why?
A: Every game will present different challenges, regardless of the opposition or the stakes. If I am selected for the final team, it will be exciting to step onto the field for each game and show the world of lacrosse how far England have progressed since 2013.
Q: What’s your proudest Lacrosse moment?
A: There isn’t one particular moment that stands out above all else; it’s always an honour and a privilege to represent England. I’m thankful for the opportunities I have had to compete against some of the best teams in the world and to play alongside incredible teammates, many of which have become my closest friends.
Q: Do you have any pre-game rituals/superstitions?
A: I don’t believe in luck, I believe in preparation so superstitions don’t really come into it. I always make sure that I have my hydration and nutrition supplies ready and that all aspects of my kit and stick are just how I like them. I’ll usually take a few minutes before the warm-up to listen to some music and compose myself; getting the right balance between being pumped and over excited is a really fine line!
Q: What’s your “Weapon of Choice”?
A: I’m in the market for a new one and excited to try the STX Crux i
Q: What is your favourite quote?
A: It’s actually a word ‘sisu’ which is a Finnish word that can’t be fully translated into English. Sisu embodies an attitude or philosophy best described as: strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity. Sisu is not momentary courage, but the ability to sustain that courage. It is a measure of integrity that surpasses any hardship and sees challenges through to the end.
Q: What is your favourite food (s)?
A: Any combination of oats, yoghurt, peanut butter, banana and honey.
Q: What is your favourite music/band (s)?
A:I like all sorts of music, my Spotify playlists include: the top 40, cardio tunes, old school hip-hop, peaceful piano, all out 60’s, funky jazz, acoustic covers and plenty of Beyonce!
Q: Who is your favourite sports hero / role model (s)?
A: I love MMA fighter Rhonda Rousey. She’s a strong, determined woman who trains fiercely and fights with courage. She also promotes a really good message about female body confidence, which I admire her for; rather than worrying about aesthetics she proudly explains: ‘there isn’t a single muscle in my body that isn’t for a purpose.’
Q: What is your favourite movie (s)?
A: I do struggle to sit still long enough to watch a whole film. If I manage it, it’s usually a ‘rag to ritches’/ ‘zero to hero’ American sports movie like Any Given Sunday, Million Dollar Baby, Cool Runnings, The Blind Side or Coach Carter. All the cheesy classics that make you feel like you can achieve anything!
Q: What is your favourite TV show (s)?
A: I was going to say that nothing beats a well acted British crime thriller like Luther but then I remembered about Game of Thrones!
