Luciana (Luci) Delaney, completed her education at Guilford High School where she then went on to study Biology at Durham University, having just recently completed her first year. During Luci’s time at school she played for Surrey at both U15 and U18 level, as well as the U18 South team alongside many of the other members of our World Cup Squad. Throughout her time of playing lacrosse Luci has suffered with a number of serious injuries which affected her for prolonged periods of time; she ruptured her ACL in the season of 2011-2012 which resulted in her having two operations, meaning she was out of lacrosse for 9 months and therefore missed out on the U19 trials. As well as this Luci was diagnosed with Glandular fever in Easter 2015, and so was unable to train at all for 5 weeks, not ideal during the World Cup build up. Although these were both setbacks in her lacrosse playing career, she came back stronger and more determined each time not letting them affect her ultimate goal of being in the U19 World Cup Squad. Whilst being in the England set up, Luci has played in three Home Internationals and three tours for England. Well renowned in the squad for having a very hard flat pass, this naturally also translates into a cannon shot that will make even the bravest goalies quake. Luci uses her height to great advantage working inside the hole, and has developed excellent tight finishing. Also at home behind the goal expect to see as many assists as goals this summer from a very dangerous attack.
