North Lacrosse
is back on top of the regional pile for the first time since 1981. Player/Coach Gill Aldcroft's squad proved they could adopt different styles using attacking fireworks to defeat the Midlands on Saturday and stingy defence to claim the title over the South on Sunday.

Ex-England international and Timperley midfielder Ailsa Stott paced a devastating attack on the first morning, picking up 7 goals and 2 assists as the North dominated in all phases. Young Timperley players Kat Swallow, Ellie DaveyEmma Economu and Nat Krekis (Leeds Uni) made much of the running with Alex Bruce (Wirral) and the experienced Lyndsay Hutchinson (Heaton Mersey) controlling possession behind. Charlie Raymer (Heaton Mersey) chipped in with a deserved hatrick, while defenders Shari Appollon (Timperley) and Elaine Radcliffe (Wirral) mopped up any pressure infront of Jane Hines (Heaton Mersey), Esther Laugharne (Wales) and keeper Aldcroft (Liverpool).

To their credit the Midlands kept up in the early phases, Ali Smith (Putney), Eleanor Garnier (Putney), Olivia Finch (Centaurs) and Helen Talbot (Putney) registered solo strikes in the first half and contain the score at 6-4 at the break.

But North were iressistable for the next 30 minutes, racking up 11 goals without reply, forcing the Midlands to start conceeding posession as they looked to save their energy for their second game of the day.

The South pipped the East 10-9 in the day's second game, led by Amy Middleton (Purley) who put on a fine display of low post dodging for 5 goals and 2 assists. Lucy Wray (Harpenden) added three goals. East got 4 goals from Rachel Kircheimer (Pendley) and 3 from Ros Lloyd (Harpenden), but South Goalie Alex Carnegie-Brown (Cambridge Uni) posted a shoutout for the last 12 minutes to push her team into the final on Sunday.

While Timperley players graced the headlines of North's victory over Midlands, it would be Heaton Mersey's turn in the Territorials Championship game. Charlie Raymer and Lyndsey Hutchinson both grabbed braces as the teams played an attritional final. North's defence, which was largely untested the day before, had to work overtime as the South edged possession. North Player/Coach Gill Aldcroft played the game of the tournament between the pipes, making 14 saves to keep her side's heads above water. The teams traded goals for the first half with Raymer, Davey and Kari Jones (Stockport) matching the South's Wray, Middelton and Lucy Welch (Centaurs).

After half time the North grabbed the lead for good as Hutchinson scored her two goals, one a free position, with Appollon's first of the weekend sandwiched in between. South's Rusty Cashman (Putney) would strike twice in the next ten minutes and Hannah Barnsley (Loughborough Uni) would add another, but Raymers second and a rare goal from Economu kept the North's cushion intact. South's big threat Middleton was expertly marshalled by Laugharne, and North saw off a final burst as South had back-to-back goals disallowed for offside and an illegal stick.

Final Score: North 8 South 6
