Spirit of Lacrosse Award

At the closing ceremony of the 2008 ILF World Championships at Coquitlam in Canada , England U 19 Manager Ravi K Sitlani received the Spirit of International Lacrosse award. This accolade is awarded at every World Championships to individuals who embody the spirit of lacrosse within their country. Ravi K Sitlani (aka Baggie) has been an ambassador for the game in England for many years especially with England Men’s National Squads. Ravi has been involved with England Lacrosse from 1992 when he represented his country in the Under 19 World Championships at Hofstra University, USA. Since then Ravi has become an important figure in the National Squad’s managerial team, being one of the managers from 2001 to present day. Ravi helped Greg Caplin manage the England World Championship teams of 2002 and 2006, as well as managing the 2003 and 2008 U 19 teams. His huge commitment to the game has ensured that England National squads have been run in a professional and successful manner. Ravi’s Spirit of International Lacrosse award is much deserved as his effort and commitment to managing the men’s national squads has embodied the desire and ambition of all the players involved. His efforts in organising England tours to play top U.S. opposition have been an integral factor in preparing squads for World championships. A recent example being the England Men’s tour to La Manga, Spain, where they faced Princeton University.   The English Lacrosse Association would like to congratulate Ravi on receiving this award.
