England Finish Preparations on a High

Tuesday 1 July

The England U19 team played its final exhibition game against Simon Fraser University. The game on Tuesday (July 1) served as England's final preparation for the opening game of the tournament against Japan.

England Started the game slowly in the first quarter going behind 3-1, as the game progressed England improved levelling the score at 4-4 by half time. Moving into the 3rd England began to find their rhythm with Sam Russell creating scoring opportunities from midfield, Russell acted as a catalyst for the team ending the game with 5 goals. England's improved play took them into fourth quarter 9-6 up. In the 4th, the game opened up and Simon Fraser made their way back into the game. A close finish saw England keeping their composure to score 3 late goals to win the game 14-11.
