This year’s national pop tournament saw 19 teams from all over the UK arrive in Hertfordshire all hoping for a chance to win the trophy, plenty of veteran teams (William Ransom, Bowdon, Kingscourt) but we this year also saw the arrival of some new teams Warren Wood, St Nicholas and St Maries all whom were very excited to be taking part in such a large event.
After some very tough competition the round robin was completed the next stage of the tournament saw the top two teams from each pool progress to the championship quarter finals, whilst the 3rd and 4th placed teams progressed to the plate quarter finals.
The Championship and Plate quarter/semi finals saw some of the toughest competition of the day with each team striving to progress to the next stage.
The Championship final was between Hertfordshire based William Ransom and Nottingham based St Peters and after some very exciting and skilful lacrosse William Ransom ran out eventual winners, with the score being 5 – 2.
The plate final was between London based Heathbrook and Cheshire based Bowdon the result at the final whistle was 1 – 1, so we entered into 2 minutes overtime with Heathbrook ran out eventual winners with the final score 3 -1.
