BUCS SEMI-FINAL Preview

The BUCS Womens semi-final will be played at Warwick University on Wednesday 22nd; following 4 years of this round of the competition being hosted at Timperley Lacrosse Club, Manchester, the move to Warwick proves to showcase some exciting matches with some of the best players in the country on show.

The first Semi-Final is a battle of two of the three south Premiership teams. Cambridge will be on the attack to seal a place in the final which they lost last year to a strong Durham team. The team boast players with international experience such as Captain Alan Livesey who recently toured the USA with the England senior team. Cambridge will no doubt be looking to keep their unbeaten record up.

Current league position: 1st (Premier South)

Matching up against Alana for the Bristol team will be fellow England tour squad members Annie Hillier and Camilla Pagent, who led Bristol to a memorable 9-8 victory over last years champions Durham. Bristol will be hoping for third time lucky having faced Cambridge in league play twice and losing twice.

Current league position: 3rd (Premier South)

The Second Semi-Final will also be hotly contested as the first, with Exeter playing in the semi’s for the second year in row. The team will hopefully be looking at leaders Melie Pemberton and Emily Zaborski to spur them on following a tight quart-final against Loughborough, which Exeter came out on top by one goal.

Current league position: 4th (Premier South)

Standing in the way of Exeter will be the only representative from the north prem, Birmingham.  Having only lost one game so far this season, the Birmingham team will be looking to keep winning ways and return to the finals having being knocked out at the quarter-final stage last year. Birmingham’s last final appearance was 2 seasons ago when the beat Cambridge in the final.

Current League position: 2nd (Premier North)
