New Volunteer Award Launched: Check it Out

The English Lacrosse Association has launched its Volunteer Reward Programme.

The reward programme is part of the ELA’s volunteer programme, “Check it Out,” and is designed to reward volunteers for their good work and practices.

There will be an award given four times a year and all winners will be featured on the ELA website and in LacrosseTalk magazine.  There is a lot of good work going on in lacrosse clubs and the award will recognise outstanding achievement in volunteering roles such as coaching, events, administering, etc.

Also, please let Dave Coldwell have information on any club Volunteer of the Month or Year awards presented at your clubs, as the ELA would also like to feature them on the website.

Please forward these details to Dave Coldwell, d.coldwell@englishlacrosse.co.uk

Simple Guidelines for Your Nomination

Awards will be made to recognise the work of individuals in clubs and schools all over the Country who have been nominated by a colleague/s.

Regional award winners will be decided by ELA Regional Development Officers, the National Volunteer Manager and Director of Development and Coaching.  All decisions are final.

A Volunteer of the Year will be selected by a panel consisting of English Lacrosse Association staff and an external expert, from all the award winners from the current season.

Eligibility for Nomination

Anyone can nominate a volunteer for consideration of the award.

Anyone volunteering their time to lacrosse, who is a member of the ELA, is eligible for nomination.

A volunteer is defined as anyone who gives their time unpaid to lacrosse, including coaches, officials, administrators, committee members, fundraisers and those ‘just helping out’.

Unsuccessful nominations will not be returned.  Winners will be notified directly and details of all winners will appear on the ELA website and in Lacrossetalk.

What to Include in Reasons for Nomination

This is the most important section of the nomination, please feel free to include an additional sheet for this section as required.  As well as identifying the different areas and types of volunteering the person you are nominating assists in (such as coaching, events, administration etc), the duration and intensity of volunteering  is also required.  Please remember to include all types of lacrosse volunteering undertaken by the nominee.

Please include the number of hours given to volunteering in lacrosse per week/month.  The current position(s) held by the nominee, any previous positions held over the last as well as all types of more informal ‘helping’ volunteering (and the duration and commitment to these positions) would also be relevant to the nomination.

Thank you for nomination.  We need your help to ensure that our volunteers are rewarded for their invaluable contribution to lacrosse.

Please return all forms to Dave Coldwell, National Volunteer Manager, c/o ELA Head Office, 26 Wood Street, Manchester, M3 3EF
