English Lacrosse is delighted to report that Sallie Barker has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list for services to Sport and Women’s Participation in Sport.
Sallie has been involved with lacrosse for many years and is currently an English Lacrosse Board member, as well as working to help organise the 2017 FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup as Chair of the Local Organising Committee.
Sallie was an influential figure in helping to form the English Lacrosse Association as it is today, through the amalgamation of the All-England Women’s Lacrosse Association and the English Lacrosse Union and subsequently, unifying the international men’s and women’s associations to create the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL).
She has over 30 years’ experience in sports administration, working for many years at the Sport & Recreation Alliance and is a well-known and highly regarded figure within the lacrosse community.
Everyone at English Lacrosse would like to offer our congratulations to Sallie on the honour and the work she has done for many years in lacrosse and within the wider sporting community.
