Broughton Park Rugby Club hosted the third annual Manchester Challenge at the weekend with over 40 teams competing over the two day event. This years event also included a girls tournaments for the first time, and saw teams competing over 6 age groups. The event also hosted a development tournament that ran alongside the main event.
On Saturday the boys U12’s and U16’s tournaments took place with Mellor claiming the U12 title beating Timperley and Poynton beating Stockport in the U16’s final. In the girls U13 tournament Timperley beat Mellor. Sunday saw Mellor win the U14’s boy’s tournament. Stockport claimed the U15 girls title and Timperley won their second trophy of the weekend in the U11’s girls tournament.
U12 Boys – Mellor 4-2 Heaton Mersey
U14 Boys – Mellor 7-6 Cheadle
U16 Boys – Poynton 11-4 Stockport
U11 Girls – Timperley 5-3 Mellor
U13 Girls – Timperley 6-5 Mellor
U15 Girls – Stockport 8-6 Brooklands

Sunday also saw three senior games take place with Oxton LC competing against both the Bristol Bombers and a North representative side. Stockport were also in action against Spencer for the National Club Championship (Iroquois Cup). More to follow on those games.
