English officials selected for 2018 Men’s World Championships

English Lacrosse is proud to announce the team of English officials that have been recommended to the Federation of International Lacrosse to serve at the 2018 FIL Men’s World Lacrosse Championships in July.

The individuals will be a part of the international officiating team that will oversee all the matches at the 2018 World Championships.

Peter Davidson and Andrew Higginbottom have been appointed as the two English, Blue Division referees with Peter Aiton, David Baythorpe, Mark Buckley, James Hawksworth, Michael Leahy and Richard Lloyd to officiate the other divisions, completing the eight-strong group of officials due to head out to Netanya, Israel for the 10-day event.

In addition to the eight referees, Dan Arnison and Wilf Seville have also been selected to be part of the team of Referee Assessors overseeing the performance of the officials during the tournament.

Mark Coups, English Lacrosse Chief Executive, said: “We are pleased with the strong group of officials we have been able to put out to represent us at the upcoming World Championships.

“An event of this size and duration is a physically and mentally demanding task for all the referees but presents an amazing opportunity and I’m confident that the selection committee has put forward a group of officials fully prepared to produce outstanding officiating throughout the world event.”
