English Lacrosse take on partners Rathbones in charity match to raise money for the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

(February 8th Hyde Park, London)

To celebrate the recently announced extended partnership with Rathbones Brothers Plc. (Rathbones), English Lacrosse received an invitation to take part in a charity match in order to raise money in aid of the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.

The charity match was held in a very wet Hyde Park between staff members (and guest players) of the two partners companies.

The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust aims to get young lives back on track not only by encouraging them to become active but also aims to get them into employment and training with inspiration and mentorship from world-class sports stars.

It was an extremely muddy, but an enjoyable encounter, with the Rathbones team featuring mostly beginners and some players with some past playing experience. The English Lacrosse team was made up of experienced staff members and representatives from Team England.

The Rathbones team put up a competitive fight and held on to the very end of the game, which ended in a very respectable 10-15 in the favor of the English Lacrosse team.

The match was attended by a number Rathbones and English Lacrosse representatives as well as past and present sports professionals involved in the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust, including former Olympic swimmer, Adam Whitehead and Paralympian Giles Long.

In a post-match ceremony, Rathbones chief executive Philip Howell and English Lacrosse chief executive Mark Coups presented a £5,000 cheque to the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.

Rathbones’ Philip Howell commented: “We are excited to be working in partnership with English Lacrosse. Rathbones’ investment will support the growth of the sport and ensure the best possible experience for players and supporters at events.”
