Sunday 16th March saw the most recent and largest U10/U8s event so far in the North West. The events are held monthly at a different venue each time, this one being the 5th of the season was held at Poynton Lacrosse Club. On a cold but dry day 25 teams representing 11 different clubs took part, with 15 teams in the U10s groups and 10 teams in the U8s groups.
Around 180 – 190 children played mini-games using adapted rules with the focus being on enjoyment and developing their fundamental Lacrosse skills in a safe and fun environment. The children play with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship and this helps to create a great atmosphere at each event. Feedback from club volunteers and parents has been excellent with the flexibility and relaxed atmosphere being seen as major factors in making these events such a success.
Doug Martin from English Lacrosse said “I am delighted with how these events have developed, at the start of last season we began this development plan with a 4 team event, it has grown tremendously too where we are now with an event for 25 teams from 11 clubs. I would like to thank all the clubs for their continued support which is essential and will keep these events going and growing”
Clubs attended at Poynton event:- Boardman & Eccles, Cheadle, Heaton Mersey, Heaton Mersey Guild, Liverpool, Mellor, Norbury, Poynton, Sheffield, Stockport and Timperley.
