Match 5 v Austria
Day five of the championships and it was the first time England didn’t show the ultimate concentration and focus that we have come to expect of ourselves.
The numerous conditions set by the coaching team on the game seemed to really test the squad, particularly a restraint on the shooting order. This is not to say that England didn’t dominate the possession which they did, breaking down the Austrian midfield quickly and only conceding one goal in the whole game.
The attack set up lacked inspiration in parts against the Austrian zone defence but there were some decent assists and all nine names on the score sheet were different. The final score was 9-1 taking England comfortably to the top of their division as the group matches come to a close. The team are looking to re-find their energy and focus tonight in preparation for the quarter finals tomorrow.
