Timperley were back in action at the weekend hosting Manchester Wacs. The hosts were in fine form and handed Wacs their second defeat of the season in a dominant 21-6 performance. Oliver White was impressive for the hosts scoring 5 goals and assisting 4 more. Canadian Brian Gillis made an impressive debut for the club scoring 5 goals and providing one assist. Further goals came from Oliver Loveland and James Bates who both scored hat-ricks. Captain Mike Armstrong and Andrew Brickell each chipped in with 2 goals each and Cam Lesley completed the scoring for Timperley with a single goal. Manchester Wacs must be credited for their final quarter performance drawing 5-5 and showing fight until the end of the game.
Cheadle hosted Wilmslow in what would turn out to be a comfortable victory for the reigning champions, winning the fixture 16-6. Dan Condron was on form again for Cheadle scoring 6 goals which now brings his tally to 15 goals for the season after just three games. At the half the score stood at 6-2 with Wilmslow controlling the ball for long periods. Other scorers for Cheadle included Captain Darren Baythorpe who scored a hat-rick. Nick Watson, Paul Flowers and Sam Dexter all got on the scoresheet with 2 goals each. Charles Syme also gained praise for his performance at the face-off X. Wilmslow were not without chances and converted 4 out of the 6 man-up opportunities they had in the game.
Stockport continued their campaign for the Premiership title with their forth victory of the season. Hosting Sheffield Steelers they produced another dominant performance beating the Yorkshire side 16-1. Josh Sherry-Brennan continued his run of good form scoring 4 goals. Greg Rowlinson, Joe Singleton and Captain Tom Gosnay all scored hat-ricks. James Pomfret was also impressive at the face-off X and managed to score a single goal, as did defender Andrew Baxter and Stevie Howe to complete the scoring for Stockport. Sheffield’s single goal came from Ben Stringer who completed a well worked team play by the Steelers.
This weekend see’s all 10 NEMLA Premiership teams in action for the first time this season.Reigning champions Cheadle take on Heaton Mersey in what’s tipped to be an extremely competitive fixture between the two clubs. League leaders Stockport take on Wilmslow at the Phoenix Sports Club. Timperley take on Brooklands at The Dragons Sports Club. Rochdale take on Manchester Waconians and Poynton travel over the pennies to face the Sheffield Steelers.
