In July 2018, Manchester will once again be the global capital for lacrosse when the city hosts the FIL Men’s World Lacrosse Championship 2018, Manchester. Planning is now well underway for this major international event, which will attract in the region of 45 international teams, up to 70 festival teams and up to 3,000 daily spectators between 12 and 21 July 2018.
Applications are invited for the role of the event’s Volunteer Manager. This essential and senior position will manage and coordinate the event’s entire team of volunteers, including the planning process to prepare volunteers for their responsibilities. The Volunteer Manager post is an unpaid role, however expenses will be covered.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of managing large teams of people in busy and fast moving sport events, and ideally you should have an in-depth knowledge of lacrosse as a sport and of lacrosse tournaments. Between now and 2018 we will also need the Volunteer Manager to attend all operational planning meetings, usually these will take place over a morning or an afternoon approximately once every three months, in Manchester.
