English Lacrosse are delighted to announce the appointment of Ryan Garnsworthy as Team England Boys Under 19 Head Coach.
Following a competitive interview process, Garnsworthy has been appointed Head Coach for the next cycle leading up to the 2020 FIL U19 Men’s World Championships after a successful campaign as Assistant coach at the 2016 U19 World Championships.
Garnsworthy was part of a team of coaches led by Paul Coups who helped maintain England’s position in the Blue division after a 5th place finish in Coquitlam, Canada.
Ryan brings to the position an impressive knowledge and experience of the domestic game that includes his current role as Head of Lacrosse and PE teacher at Sherborne Girls School and two stints as an LDO for Timperley Lacrosse Club.
New Head Coach Garnsworthy has also competed for Australia in three senior World Championships, captaining his nation to a bronze medal in 2010 in Manchester.
English Lacrosse National Talent Manager, Jane Powell, commented on the announcement: “I am delighted that Ryan has put himself forward for another U19 cycle, this time as Head Coach.
“Whilst I was delighted with the progress the boys achieved in the summer, I feel certain we can raise the bar in a number of key areas to enable further success under Ryan’s leadership”.
English Lacrosse would like to wish Ryan every success and look forward to working closely with him as he prepares Team England for another U19 World Championships in Limerick 2020.
Following this announcement, English Lacrosse are now also looking to appoint Assistant Coaches and a Team Manager to work with the squad in their development towards 2020.
