English Lacrosse are delighted to announce that Hannah Townend from Chalkhouse Green, South Oxfordshire has been selected as the winner of our 2017 FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Design the Mascot Competition. Hannah who attends Queen Anne’s Caversham School with her two sisters, she is one of a triplet, was chosen from over 60 entries.
“I am very excited to attend the World Cup in 2017; walking out alongside the England team will be a dream come true and I would love to see England win!”
Hannah said, “I was thrilled to hear that my design had won the 2017 World Cup Mascot Competition; the design process was really fun and I did quite a lot of research before putting pen to paper. I chose to use a lion as my mascot as this represents the national animal of England and then I used the England Lacrosse kit to tie in the theme of lacrosse. Seeing my design come to life will be amazing and I am looking forward to attending the World Cup in 2017.”
Hannah first started playing lacrosse when she joined Queen Anne’s School in Year 7 in September 2013. Talking about her first experiences of lacrosse, Hannah said, “Playing lacrosse for the first time was scary but once I had played a few matches, I really started to enjoy playing.
