Overall role descriptor English Lacrosse is looking to appoint a Marketing and Communications Intern to assist the communications team. You will oversee social media planning, scheduling and writing press releases.Candidates will gain valuable experience in event and digital marketing. The role will require the intern to assist the team at major events.
Skills Required
  • Currently enrolled on a marketing or journalism course or have prior marketing or journalism experience
  • Proven knowledge of computer software including Microsoft office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to create digital marketing
  • Skilled at using Social Media as a key communications tool
  • Planning and time management skills
  • Innovative idea creation and implementation
  • Driving license with access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work out of normal office hours (including late nights and weekends)
  • Prepared to travel within the UK
  • Committed, dynamic & productive
Personal Specifications Essential

  • An effective organiser with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • An excellent communicator and copy writing skills
  • Ability to lead as well as work well within a team
  • Willingness to learn new and develop existing skills
  • Enthusiastic and self- motivated
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • English and Math GCSE level or equivalent.


  • Knowledge and experience of working on sport related events
  • Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop Knowledge
  • Experience using camera and video camera
  • A degree in journalism, marketing, PR or a related industry
  • Knowledge of lacrosse preferred but not required
Main Duties
  • Assist with research and writing/editing of social media posts, articles, blogs, press releases and e shot newsletters.
  • Conducting interviews with players and coaches when required
  • Assist in creating content for social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snap Chat.
  • Video production and/or YouTube content management
  • Help to increase social media following
  • Assist with the general maintenance of the English Lacrosse and event portal website ensuring they are regularly updated.
  • Assist communications team at key events and press events
  • Support and assist the communications team on any other ad hoc requests

The Position The position is for immediate appointment, flexible working hours – minimum 20 hours per week (not including additional weekend and evening event duties)Duration: 3 – 6 months
