Saturday 10th May 2014 sees the introduction of a new and exciting sports and music festival in the heart of Manchester at Broughton Park Rugby Club, Hough End Playing Fields, Chorlton, the premier open sports area in the city centre. The festival combines lacrosse 8s, rugby 7s, netball, Gaelic football and hurling with a festival atmosphere aimed at all levels and abilities set over 30 acres of sports fields.
For those seeking competitive or social competition this is the premier multi sport event in the UK. With the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Championships returning to Manchester, this festival event in combination with the Broughton Park venue gives the opportunity to showcase our sport to the Manchester public and other likeminded athletes.
We are creating an event Manchester will be proud of highlighting our sporting facilities, music and of course the City of Manchester. To keep spectators and participants occupied between competitions there will be a trade village providing refreshments and other merchandise and lots of fun things to get involved in. Throughout the main festival day (Saturday) everyone will be entertained by non-stop music from top and emerging local bands including City of Lights, The Dunwells, Noasis, Rupert Stroud and many more TBC.
Partners include Manchester City Council, English Lacrosse Association, Northern Soul, Red Bull, Broughton Park, GAA, RFU, Heineken/Carlsberg, Unity Radio and our chosen festival charity is Forever Manchester.
