The Inaugural BUCS Lacrosse 8s Championships 2017 has been awarded to The University of Bristol.
On 6 May 2017, the BUCS Lacrosse 8s will take place for the first time and will be hosted by the University of Bristol at the Coombe Dingle Sports Complex. The Championships offer universities the chance to showcase high quality Lacrosse in this fast paced and highly competitive competition.
On the award of the Championships to Bristol, Fraser Kennedy, Lacrosse Advisory Group Chair, said: “I am absolutely delighted in the response for hosting this new event with Bristol’s bid being outstanding.
“It is rather exciting that Lacrosse 8s is now in the BUCS Calendar; the event has been 3 years in the making and we all can’t wait for May. Lacrosse 8s is a skilful, fast and fun version of the full sided game and the talent that will be on show will ensure exceptional standards are met across the whole weekend.”
Dave Coldwell, English Lacrosse Participation & Communities Manager, commented: “English Lacrosse is delighted to be working with BUCS in introducing Lacrosse 8s to the programme this year.
‘It is an exciting version of the game which offers a new playing experience for students, whilst providing more opportunities to play a growing sport. Bristol pitched a strong bid and we are very much looking forward to working with them and BUCS in running Lacrosse 8s.”
