Lacrosse World Cup Bid 2017 – Decision Pending

2017 World Cup Bid Launch

In May this year English Lacrosse launched its bid to host the Women’s Lacrosse World Cup Bid 2017 at Westminster. The bid gained the backing from 10% of ministers and attracted the  minister for Sport and the Olympics Hugh Robertson in person. The English Lacrosse parliamentary fellow Graham Brady hosted a fabulous event and raised an early day motion in support of the bid.

Lacrosse World Cup Bid Successful Bid?

The Federation of International Lacrosse will hold its General Assembly in Amsterdam on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th June 2012. The matter of International events will be discussed on Tuesday morning. FIL will then appoint the 2017 World Cup to a bidding nation. David Shuttleworth, Chief Executive Officer of the English Lacrosse Association will be in attendance and report the decision as soon as its made. Watch this space….

English Lacrosse has a long history of hosting successful International events. Most recently the 2010 Men’s World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, which boosted the Northwest with an economic impact of £5.5 million.
