U19’s League opening weekend results

The opening weekend of the 2012-13 U19 Autumn League started last evening at Timperley Lacrosse Club in cold blistery conditions, all of the scheduled games took place.

U19 League A

The opening game of the evening saw Sheffield take on Heaton Mersey in a extremely close contest that could only be decided in the final quarter. The Yorkshire based side coming out on top XX-XX.

Cheadle faced the Ted Donnett champions Timperley in the second game, the Kingsway based side gave the hosts a real run for their money.

They battled it out in the first three quaters in an extremely close contest. Going into the final quarter the hosts held a narrow lead 11-10.

Cheadle came out in the fourth and levelled the game before Timperley dug deep and scored four un-replied goals to get their title campaign up and running.

The final game of the evening in League A, saw the title holders Brooklands display why they wont be giving up the league title without a fight, as they defeated the combination side ‘Stellor’ in a convincing 17-3 victory.

U19 League B

In the League B Poynton, Rochdale/Boardman and Manchester Wacs all collected thier first victories of the season.

In the opening game of the evening the combined team of Rochdale and Boardman had a close run contest with Brooklands B. The game was decided by a single goal, with  Rochdale/Boardman coming out on top 8-9.

Manchester Wacs also got their first ‘W’ of the season as they defeated the other combined team in the league; Cheadle Hulme/Norbury 9-4.

In the closing B League game of the evening Poynton beat Wilmslow 11-6.
