Finland Named 2017 ELF European Indoor Lacrosse Championship Hosts

The European Lacrosse Federation has announced that Finland will host the 2017 ELF European Indoor Lacrosse Championships. The event will take place at the 3000-seat Marli Areena in Turku, Finland home to semi-professional hockey club TUTO Hockey.

The tournament will take place between 8th – 15th July 2017 with the expectation that between 12-16 teams will compete. The Marli Areena was built in 2006 and annually hosts the Finnish Indoor Lacrosse Final-Fours. There will also be a secondary venue located less than 6km away at the D-Gate Arena in Kaarina which might also be utilised.

Ten European nations competed at this summers 2015 FIL Indoor World Championships in Onongada, Syracuse which included; Finland, Israel, Ireland, Switzerland, England, Czech Republic, Germany, Turkey, Serbia and Slovakia it is expected that at least Sweden, the Netherlands, Hungary, Belgium, France and Slovakia and maybe even Russia will join them to compete in Turku.
