English Lacrosse National Talent Development Manager Jane Powell has just released a new Player Framework for identifying players for Regional and Nationals Academies. This new framework will give coaches, assessors and parents an understanding of what is expected of players at each level of the pathway. The criteria has recently been updated to include boys lacrosse after Jane’s completed her review of the boys junior academy system and the senior performance teams.
“We are at a crucial stage in lacrosse where all our energies are starting to come in line to channel our talented players into a bright future – the standards developed here will not only help players but will also assist teachers and coaches. “We will keep evolving the resources to aid the development of our young and talented lacrosse players.” said National Talent Development Manager Jane Powell.
The following diagram explains what skill set each age group should be able to perform it is broken down into absolute necessities (green), stretch zones (amber) and exceptional zone (red) skills. The diagram has been broken down into to specific technical skills i.e. face-off/draw position.
