NEMLA – Premiership Week 3 Report

Cheadle were back in action this week, travelling to the Sheffield Hallam Sports Park to take on the Sheffield Steelers. The game was a one-sided tie with the champions beating their hosts 22-3. Danny Condron was the standout performer in the game with 5 goals. Attackman Nick Watson scored four and Captain Daren Baythorpe scored three. Paul Flowers, Chris Brady, Sam Dexter, Matthew Boyd and defender Danny Smith all scored twice.

Stockport remain top with an equally impressive victory over Brooklands 22-0. The title challengers put on a dominant performance in every department. Captain Tom Gosnay and Josh Sherry-Brennan led the team with five goal’s each in the game. 16-year old Mike Pomfret continued his impressive start to his senior career with four goals. Greg Rowlinson scored 3, Steven Howe netted twice and Ryan Leonard, James Pomfret and Joe Singleton all scored one each. Defensively Ben McAllister and his defence kept their first clean sheet of the season.

Heaton Mersey started their 2015/16 campaign at the weekend, beating Wilmslow 14-2 at Phoenix Sports Club. Wilmslow goal scorers included Tim Witt and Henry Northrop. Wilmslow face-off man Rick Wilson won 14 of 20 draws.

Timperley and Manchester Wacs are back in action this weekend with two club facing off against each other at Timperley Sports Club. Manchester Wacs return from a tour to Northern Ireland last weekend. Stockport take on the Sheffield Steelers at Cale Green, and Cheadle take on Wilmslow at Kingsway. Poynton and Rochdale are not in action this weekend.
